The evening started with members of the Gainsborough theatre club showing members of the group around the Old Nick Theatre building. After this people set off to investigate different parts of the building.

Costume Room 1
A room that we called costume room 1; directly at the top of the stairs, was investigated by several group members and proved to be very interesting with quite a lot of activity. Cold spots were felt, light anomalies were captured on digital camera, and moving orbs were caught with night-vision video cameras. The name Margaret was sensed and when her name was called out, there was movement heard in the room. This also caused the EMF metre to react and sound, confirming that there was some sort of energy present. This occurred quite a few times through the night. Also the noise of a small movement of a coat hanger seemed to be detected at one stage.

Costume Room 2
The room at the top of the stairs on the left which we called Costume room 2; was also investigated by several members of the group over the course of the evening. Again moving orbs were captured on video cameras. The group medium also at one stage felt some slight energy movements around him.

The Cells
Lots of members of the group over the period of the night investigated the cells but nothing of any real significance was picked up, however a later vigil by a few group members in the room used by the Youth Theatre did have some interesting results; small tapping noises were given in response to questions. The impression was given that the spirit had been somebody who at sometime had lived in the building. But no names were picked up.

The Stairs
The stairs by many members of the group did give the feeling of being very spooky but nothing was captured.

The Dressing Room
Many members spent sometime in the dressing room; several photos did reveal light anomalies but this room again proved fairly quiet.

The Auditorium
The auditorium was investigated pretty much by different members throughout the night, and this definitely proved to be the most active part of the building. The group medium on entering this room seemed to be drawn immediately to the back row of seats directly opposite the entrance, the same place that another ghost group had picked up spirit presence; our medium has never seen their report and has never seen the building before. Another member of the group also felt what they thought was a male presence in the same area. Night-vision cameras were set up and many moving light anomalies were captured in this room. The majority of them in this area. Lots of digital photos taken by group members also contained light anomalies. A seat at the end of the front row on the opposite side, (the dressing room entrance end) flipped down on its own accord at one point during the evening, frightening two members of the group. A psychic circle was set up by the group medium which proved to bring through one or two spirits, one member of the group became very emotional when it seemed a family member made contact. Another member of the group had the feeling of being choked while taking part in the circle and on examination red marks were seen and photographed around her neck in the shape of fingerprints. One of the theatre members who spent the night with us also seemed to have a strange experience when he felt like he was being tickled which sent him into uncontrollable laughter. On ceasing this tickling he immediately stopped laughing and then complained of feeling really hot, a temperature reading was taken on his back and the reading was significantly hotter than other people sat in the circle. More names were picked up during this séance including a possible Maud Bennett, sombody called Dennis and the group medium also picked up somebody who could play the piano, possibly with a London connection. But the most exciting part of the evening was still to come. Again the name Margaret was picked up and the name Phillips. Most of the members of the group were in the auditorium when the table tipping took place. This began with several members sat around a table with their hands placed lightly on the top; when asked for some spirit presence to give us a sign, a glass was rolled across the table. Then two of the legs lifted at least three inches off the floor, it then rested down again. This was caught on video camera, the group then asked again for further proof, and the table then came up approx 5-6 inches. It then suddenly jolted slightly round, it did this two or three times, leaving everybody amazed and excited. All this was captured on video, and after being studied several times, is probably one of the best paranormal activities ever captured on film by the group, with all hands being clearly shown to be placed lightly on the top of the table. This brought the night to a fantastic conclusion.

Conclusion
The group definitely thinks that the Old Nick Theatre has got its fair share of spirits but unfortunately the group couldn’t put a lot of names to the spirits present. The cells although giving the impression of being spooky didn’t seem to show much paranormal activity but this definitely can’t be ruled out. The upstairs costume rooms are definitely active, and possibly some of the spirits could be connected to some of the very old costumes kept up there (this is quite a common occurrence.) The auditorium we feel has definitely got some spirit presence. The seating on the back row opposite the main entrance and possibly at the end of the front row opposite seemed to be the most active. The video evidence captured seems to prove beyond doubt that nobody from the group was responsible for moving the table. The moving orbs captured around the building are also very impressive.

The investigation of The Old Nick Theatre was very enjoyable and very exciting and received an 8/10.
