SOLAR ROOM

Nathan and Jess took a group of 16 people for their first vigil into the solar room. When the group had gathered in the Solar room and the lights had been turned off, Nathan filmed the vigil while Jess explained the importance of protection and then proceeded to protect the group. A group of four attempted some glass divination for several minutes with little success. The group was then asked if any others would like to try and a second group started to call out. After a slow start the glass suddenly started to twist, and slight breezes were felt by people around the table. Jess felt that there was a definite breeze coming from the right hand corner from behind her which was also felt by other people in the room. When the group asked the spirit if they would like to communicate with anyone on the table, the glass moved swiftly and positively to a female that was taking part in the glass divination, immediately the woman began to feel weak at the knees and felt very faint, and struggled to keep her balance, at this point Jess intervened and sat the lady down and comforted her. After this table tipping was tried with two light knocks being heard under the table and some slight vibrations felt. This brought the 30-minute session to an end, on leaving the room one of the group said that he felt that he was being watched by a lady in a red dress, stood in the corner of the room where the breezes had earlier been felt.

CHAMBER ROOM

The next vigil was in the chamber room which was partly lit by the hallway where the grey lady walks. Jess started the vigil with 16 members of the group holding hands in a large circle. Nathan was using night-vision and taking photos. The group was asked to call out individually for any spirit presence and breezes were felt by individuals around the back of their legs. Although there didn’t seem to be a lot of activity after about 20-minutes one of the group said that he sensed the presence of a male spirit who seemed to be very panicky and who had passed away with a stomach condition that could have been cancer and it was said that he was dressed in old styled clothing and had a possible connection with the building. This concluded the vigil. - This report compiled by Nathan & Jess.
Dale & Brian's group, vigil report

PANELLED ROOM

Dale and Brian took their group of about 17 people and started the first vigil in the panelled room. Protection was put around the group at the start of the vigil. Brian used his night-vision camcorder to record events, and Dale commenced to ask for some sign of spirit presence. Things were very slow to get started but then some lights were seen in the room joined onto the panel room. One member of the group sensed a presence near a painting. Light anomalies were captured on the night-vision camcorders, and then a male presence was sensed in the corner with a possible sighting of a shadow. The temperature also fluctuated in this area, but no major activity occurred and this brought the first vigil to its close.

LOURVE ROOM

The second vigil was carried out in the Louvre room, and it was decided after the group was given some protection to do some glass divination, Brian continued with his night-vision coverage of the event, while Dale asked for spirit contact. It wasn’t long before contact was made with some lady spirit who indicated she had worked in the kitchens and her name was given as Gwendolyn, the contact was going really well when suddenly the glass started moving a little bit erratically and one of the group started to feel quite ill as she felt there was a presence very close, it seemed the glass had been taken over by some less friendly gentleman spirit who made it clear that he wasn’t happy at our attempts to communicate with him. Dale made the decision at this point to close the table down with a prayer and thank the spirits for their co-operation. This brought the second vigil to a conclusion. - This report is compiled by Dale & Brian.
The night was filled with high expectation on entering this magnificent 15th century manor house known as Gainsborough Old Hall.
Not exactly being a fully converted believer I agreed to go along with the "Ghosts Tied in Nott’s" team of investigators open minded, and offering my help in any way possible.

GREAT HALL

On entering the ”Great Hall" Elaine one of the groups mediums claimed she was picking up messages concerning a Elizabeth Hibbertson who once lived at "Springthorpe Hamlet" and worked at "Torksey Castle". Elaine comes from Nottingham and claimed that these places were not familiar to her but was told by local lad Dale Ayris that they were local place names.
I was then assigned to Steve a staunch believer in the "spirit world" to take members of the public around the house and do vigils. After linking hands and asking out for response everybodies eyes were averted to the window having heard tapping sounds on the glass. After thanking the spirit for this response, Steve came up with the name Harold; where upon a member of the public claimed that a cavalier soldier came into her mind. The next name Steve received was Edith and asked if this name was known to anyone. There was no response to this but at the end of the night a young girl approached Steve saying "that Edith was her late grandma".

SOLAR ROOM

The other notable event in the "Solar" bedroom was money jangling noises that were also noticed by members of the public. Our second room vigil involved table tipping, but apart from vibrations to the table no tipping was experienced. I joked because of its shear weight not even the spirit of Superman could lift this vast table.

KITCHEN

Our final room was the kitchen where again members of the public linked hands and asked for a response of some kind. It was at this point that an observing member of the public claimed she could see the shape of a "maid or servant" on the balcony overlooking the circle where on a member of the investigating team swung his camcorder up to the balcony and witnessed a moving "Light Anomaly, before his batteries went dead. Another member of the public reported a blast of cold air, which after further investigation was agreed that a vortex of cold air emanating from the floor.
I and the investigation team enjoyed the night very much and hope the public also enjoyed this special night.

Di and Russel's group vigil report

LECTURE ROOM

Our group was the young people from the connections group, and we had been asked to start the night off with a vigil in the room that is known as the lecture room, a recently modernised part of the building, but we didn't let this deter us.
The vigil began with all members having protection put around them. Then it was down to business. We began with a session on the yes/no board, because of the newness of this part of the building we didn't think we would have much to talk about, how wrong we were.
We placed a silver ring on the top of the glass, and then everyone around the table placed a finger from the opposite hand to the one they write with. Russell began by asking if there were "any spirits here in the room with us", almost before he had asked the question the glass had started moving over to the yes side of the table. We asked a multitude of questions and got very positive responses from the spirit or spirits that were with us. We asked all the participants if they had any thing to ask or any names to suggest. Becky felt that the spirit was a lady and her name was Elizabeth. She had lived and worked at the Old Hall in her earthly life. A male spirit came through and when names were suggested he said yes to the name Edward. The male spirit seemed to be more commanding than the lady spirit, and was even more eager to speak to us through the glass. Whilst the board was being used Robert and a couple of the other lads were using the EMF meter and the three digital cameras that we had loaned our group.
Robert was getting very high readings by the fire place in the room; I think the fireplace is probably the only part of the old room that remains in there. We got lots of photo's with ORBS on but nothing unexplainable.
After a little while some of the people around the table changed places so that some of the other members could have a try. This session seemed to go really quiet; there was not a lot of activity when we changed participants. Robert was elected to be the 'last man standing'. This meant the rest of the people sat around the table, would take their fingers off the glass one by one, then the last man standing (Robert) would take the ring off the glass and put it under the glass, then the ring was returned to it's owner. This was to close the session on the board. We thanked the spirits for coming into the circle and for answering our questions

KITCHEN

For our second vigil we had chosen to go to the kitchen. We had been told that the previous group had had some good results in there, and I must admit so did we, it was amazing.
We led our group in and instantly we noticed how icy cold it was in there, it was dark and intimidating and not really the place I would have chosen if I had known anything about the building. We had lots of things happen in here different conditions were felt by different people, and every person that went into the bakery side of the kitchen came out with a backache and wrist pains. We could quite clearly smell burning around the fireplace. A few of the group went into the room where the animal carcasses were hanging, and felt that there was something in there that wasn't a good spirit. The group took lots of photos in the extensive kitchen area, and amongst the photos were orbs, mists and as the camera flashed one girl said that she had seen a man standing looking at Jane, when the photo was taken. She was really quite scared at this. We then decided that we would form a circle in the main part of the kitchen, we joined hands and asked for any spirit present to make a noise or tap something, we had very little response from this only two of the group felt as if they were being touched and it was noticed that the temperature had plummeted once again...
We closed the circle and as we made our way out of the kitchen one of the girls noticed that the "griddle pan" hanging in the fire place was swinging quite a lot, it was clearly noticeable.

LOURVE ROOM

We made our way up the stairs to the louvre room where we were hoping to have a go at table tipping, before we all went into the tower room one of the girls from our group sat in the tower bedroom alone, She became uncomfortable feeling that she was being touched quite a lot on the legs and back. I suggested that the people with the cameras should take photos of her. Later we had a look at the photos that were taken of her and we noticed that she was surrounded by lots of orbs, some moving, some just sort of hanging there and almost all of them white in colour.
During this time the room had become quite full and Paul (gtin) and I noticed that the bed had been pressed down as if someone had just sat on it. I did not see the bed being pressed I just saw the end result.
We thoroughly enjoyed our night, the group that we took around the Old Hall, were pleasant very polite and really keen to learn about the paranormal. They were very respectful of the building and its history, and they showed great respect for the other people in the group. So thank you to a really nice group of”young people" for making the night such a success. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
